Tab Five Resources

Tab Five Resources is that place where we throw all of the golden nuggets we couldn't find an exact spot for in the main guidebook. We'll add new stuff over time. We hope you find all of the information in this section highly useful even if it was categorized as "miscellaneous".

The Common Application Includes Over 400 Institutional Members

The Common Application membership association was established in 1975 by 15 private colleges that wished to provide a common, standardized first-year application form for use at any member institution. With the administrative support of the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), the organization grew steadily throughout its first 30 years.

Now in our fourth decade, the Common Application currently provides both online and print versions of its First-year and Transfer Applications. Our membership of nearly 400 institutions now represents the full range of higher education institutions in the US: public and private, large and small, highly selective and modestly selective, and East Coast, West Coast, and every region in between.

What Recruiters Say About Resumes

Original written by J. Michael Worthington, Jr.
ResumeDoctor undertook the immense project of interviewing several hundred recruiters/headhunters to find out what they are saying about resumes. These recruiters stemmed from varied specialties and industries throughout the US and Canada, (Engineering, Information Technology, Sales and Marketing, Executive, Biotech, Healthcare, Administrative, Finance, etc.).

ResumeDoctor sought to find out what are the recruiter’s likes and dislikes in a resume they receive and what is going to get a resume read by them. Some of the “Pet Peeves” shared will be obvious, while others might surprise a job seeker.
